How to Install Vertical Window Blinds

Vertical window blinds are great when it comes to sliding doors and windows because you can open the doors and windows to the point of how open your blinds are. Horizontal window blinds do not give you that option, you will need to raise the blinds completely in order to open your window or door properly.

You can even install your own vertical window blinds; just simply follow the instructions that came with your new blinds. First things first, make sure you have all the necessary tools in installing your new set of blinds. Basic tools you will need are tape measure, pencil, screwdriver, hammer, nails, drill, drill bits and a pair of scissors.

Secure those items first before beginning the installation. You may have majority of the items and the items you will need might also come with the vertical blinds. Tools like the drill and drill bits might need to be borrowed from a friend of neighbor if you are not exactly a handyman.

Step 1:

Before doing any drilling, mark the areas that you are going to drill. Grab your pencil and tape measure and place the pencil marks for your brackets. Make sure that you have even spaces between the brackets or your vertical window blinds might end up lop-sided.

Make sure that you make the necessary allowances when you are marking the position on the wall. Leave a little head room for the rail that will hold the blinds and make sure that the blinds will not clash with your floor below. If you are planning on installing carpeting, take the width of the carpet into consideration as well.

Step 2:

Place the brackets on the wall and secure them with screws. If it is a hard surface like concrete, it is advised that you use the power drill to make things much easier for you. If you are installing the vertical blinds on a wooden surface, then you can screw in the brackets using a screwdriver.

Step 3:

Place the head rail with the attached vertical window blinds onto the brackets. Adjust the blinds accordingly and then you are done.
